Building a non-invasive animal health monitoring system from the ground up

We partnered with an industry leader in agriculture to develop a smarter early detection software for cattle health using synthetic data, computer vision, custom hardware and software.

Question: If you are the largest street pole manufacturer in the country, how do you devise a product strategy to reach new customers and increase sales?

Answer: Develop a new product line to take the pole off the streets.

Valmont had reached market saturation with their city poles and engaged TMB to think of ways to reach new markets with their poles. Together, we envisioned a way to install poles in feed lots across the country by using AI to evaluate cattle health and partnered with their team to take these new poles to market.

HerdSense is a cattle health detection system that uses custom-made cameras installed on Valmont poles to identify anomalous behaviors in cattle. We trained the AI and wrote the software, and they provided the hardware. HerdSense is currently in trials on feedlots and will be in production shortly
