Product strategy

How do you decide which products to develop? Are you building what your customers want? Are your products solving a problem or do they improve efficiency? Your product roadmap is the foundation that your business is built on, and leveraging new technologies effectively is crucial to maintain competitive advantage.

At The Main Branch, we integrate with your product team to strategize profitable and competitive product development, from ideation to market.

HerdSense

Question: If you are the largest street pole manufacturer in the country, how do you devise a product strategy to reach new customers and increase sales?

Answer: Develop a new product line to take the pole off the streets.

Valmont had reached market saturation with their city poles and engaged TMB to think of ways to reach new markets with their poles. Together, we envisioned a way to install poles in feed lots across the country by using AI to evaluate cattle health and partnered with their team to take these new poles to market.

HerdSense is a cattle health detection system that uses custom-made cameras installed on Valmont poles to identify anomalous behaviors in cattle. We trained the AI and wrote the software, even designed the hardware. Being able to detect illness early with HerdSense saves cattle and increases feed lot yield.

HerdSense is currently in production and is contributing to Valmont topline growth.

Vision Pro Launch Title

Question: When you are the most recognizable name in visual entertainment and specialize in high end theaters, how do you break into the consumer market and deliver high quality display to the individual?

Answer: Develop products in the VR and gaming space.

IMAX has demanding standards in visual quality in order to maintain the high end brand expectation they’ve worked diligently to establish. This makes expanding to new platforms difficult but not impossible. When Apple’s new Vision Pro became capable of rendering movies that met these standards, TMB rushed quickly to develop IMAX presence on the Vision Pro when it launched.
