Internal Innovation

One of the benefits of having a team of engineers and business strategists is that we get to choose a limited number of products that fascinate us. We carefully select one new project per quarter to venture into new industries with advanced technology. Along the way, we’ve discovered an innovative method of creating synthetic 3-D data, enabling a radically faster and cheaper way to train AI models. Our synthetic data enables more accurate object identification, behavior detection, depth analysis, and anomaly detection beyond what’s possible with real image data.

We’re currently in the process of sharing this method with the AI community. Check out more details at our Synetic.com website, where you can also request custom models or contribute to the conversations on our forum. Synetic is cool stuff, and genuinely revolutionizes the way AI models are being trained. We eat our own dog food for every internally funded project.

HorseWise

Question: Can the Synetic training method be leveraged to provide an early warning system for equine health?

Answer: Most definitely

There are 3 million pleasure horses in 20K barns across the country. On average, 300 horses die per day for preventable health conditions. By leveraging the Synetic HurricAIne technology, Horsewise detects anomalous behavior and alerts veterinarians, owners, and barn managers immediately when horses show behavior associated with colic, cribbing, and other common health issues.
Horsewise currently offers certification for barns with the early warning system in place, saving lives of horses and providing peace of mind for owners in 300 facilities. We work with insurance companies, 80 veterinarians, and are endorsed by olympic riders and mustang trainers. Horsewise has expanded out of pleasure horses to work horses and race horses, and has 0.02% false negative rate over 3 years.

SpudBud

Question: Can Synetic HurricAIne technology offer anything useful to the potato growing industry?

Answer: Yes, a single camera attached to a portable hardware box can make accurate counts and weights by grade, and identify spud health for each potato loaded into a processor’s cellar.

Sun Valley Potatos manages fulfillment contracts for the majority of the potato industry, connecting growers with sellers across the country. Currently 80 billion tons of potatoes are stored in climate controlled cellars every year, with very little knowledge of the quality or grades of those potatoes.

By clipping a camera to the loading mechanism at each cellar, The Main Branch can accurately leverage our custom potato AI model to accurately identify weights, counts, and grades of spuds and display results in a user friendly web interface. Knowing what’s in the cellar enables efficient order placement and fulfillment, increasing satisfaction of purchasers, profit for growers, and yield for processors.
